Saharsa: Police on April 26, 2020, arrested and sent to jail an imposter Ravindra Kumar, son of late Bhagwat Prasad of village Lachchubigha under Mehkar police station in Gaya District, for joining as a Constable at Saharsa through fraudulent ways in place of Munna Kumar, son of Harischandra Rai of village Garhan under Ahiyapur Police Station in Muzaffarpur District, who was originally selected for the job. Ravindra Kumar functioned as Constable for 53 days starting March 4, 2020.
Munnna Kumar had been directed to join at Saharsa but before he could join there Ravindra Kumar had joined there on March 4, 2020, presenting himself as Munna on the basis of forged documents. Ravindra Kumar was also given Constable Code 149. But, Ravindra Kumar’s fraud was exposed when Munna Kumar reached Saharsa on April 20, 2020, to give his joining.
The district police authorities were shocked and Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar on April 21, 2020, directed SI Umakant Upadhayay to inquire into the matter. SI Upadhayaya visited Munna Kumar’s native village Garhan in Muzaffarpur and submitted his report to the SP, Saharsa, on April 23, 2020. Thereafter, on the directives of SP, Saharsa, Cyber Cell Incharge, Saharsa, Manglesh Kumar Madhukar, got details of Ravindra Kumar through his cellphone.
After the inquiry, an FIR was lodged with Sadar Police Station against Ravindra Kumar on April 24, 2020, on the directive of SP, Saharsa. SDPO, Sadar, Prabhakar Tiwary confirmed that Ravindra Kumar had been arrested and sent to jail for the fraud.
