Saharsa : Saharsa Police have cracked the case of firing on Constable Santosh Kumar Suman in broad daylight on April 2, 2020, when he was returning to policeline from Saharsa Stadium, by arresting two of the three criminals involved in firing with a countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, and a stolen bike, within 24 hours of the incident. Police are conducting raids to arrest the third accused Navin. The two arrested criminals were identified as Banka Yadav and Naresh Kumar.

Giving this information at a presser at his office chamber on April 3, 2020, Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar said that the incident had link with Saharsa Jail. Police had cordoned off the entire area after the incident and conducted raids, the SP added.

The two arrested criminals Banka Yadav and Naresh Kumar, in their confessional statements, alleged that a Saharsa Jail inmate Prabhakar, a notorious criminal,  had given them contract to kill a Jail constable Amarjeet Singh. But, on April 2, 2020, another constable was on duty at jail. But, in confusion they fired on Constable Santosh Kumar Suman, who was returning to policeline after performing his duty at the Stadium, outside Jail Gate.  An injured Santosh Kumar Suman was admitted to a Private Nursing Home at Saharsa. The broad daylight firing at Jail Gate during lockdown has, however, exposed law and order at Saharsa.
