Saharsa : Saharsa jail inmates on February 6 called off their seven day old hunger strike following initiative taken by Director, Prisons, B C P Singh and Deputy IG ( Prisons) Shivendra Priyadarshi. Former MP Lovely Anand and her associates Ajay Kumar Babloo and Rajen Anand said that the Home Secretary and IG ( Prisons ) and had sent a probe team to Saharsa to inquire into reasons behind the hunger strike by prisoners. The team inquired into the entire episode on February 5 and February 6 and assured to take appropriate action within 15 days. The team members also spoke prisoners and persuaded them to call off their strike. But former MP Anand Mohan, who is lodged in the same jail, said that if within 15 days action is not taken the agitation would be intensified.
