Saharsa : Police on April 24, 2020, arrested a couple from Delhi Bangla, Thakur Tola, under Bangaon Police Station in Saharsa District in North Bihar for allegedly killing Ankush Sharma, 26, a resident of village Mohania under Balwahaat Police Outpost (OP) on April 18, 2020. Sheet Kumar Rai alias Raghav and his wife Preeti Kumari confessed having killed Ankush Sharma, said Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar adding both were put behind the bars.
SP Rakesh Kumar said that Ankush Sharma’s body was recovered from a pond located near Telhar Middle School under Mahishi Police Station in Saharsa District on April 18, 2020. SDPO, Saharsa, Prabhakar Tiwary, headed the team which inquired into the murder case and prima facie found a love angle to it. The probe team also comprised SHO, Mahishi Police Station Kamlesh Kumar and IT Cell Incharge Manglesh Madhukar. The team also looked into the call details of slain Ankush Sharma and cracked the case by arresting Sheet Kumar Rai alias Raghav and his wife Preeti Kumari on April 24, the SP added.
During their interrogation, the couple told police that Preeti allegedly had an affair with Ankush before her marriage with Sheet Kumar Rai alias Raghav. But, she had been maintaining distance from Ankush after her marriage after which the latter allegedly threatened to blackmail her, the SP said. After this, Preeti decided to eliminate Ankush and under a plan called him over to her house saying she was alone and with the help of her husband killed him and threw the body into a pond.
