Patna : South Africa (SA) beat Sri Lanka (SL) by 16 runs in the 2nd T20I at SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa, on March 22, 2019, late night, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Sri Lanka had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, South Africa made 180/3 in 20 overs with opener Reeza Hendricks scoring 65 in 46 balls with 9 fours and Rassie van der Dussen 64 in 44 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Jean-Paul Duminy remained unbeaten on 33 in 17 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. David Miller remained not out on 9 in 9 balls with 1 four. Opener Aiden Markram fell to fast medium bowler Usuru Udana for 1.

In reply, Sri Lanka made 164/9 in 20 overs with Isuru Udana, 31, scoring an unbeaten 84 in 48 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. Opener Niroshan Dickwell (wk) fell to Chris Morris for 20 while his opening partner Avishka Fernando fell to fast bowler Dale Steyn for zero. Kusal Mendis also fell to Steyn for 4. Thisara Perera fell to Dwaine Pretorius for 22 in 15 bals with 2 fours and a six. Kamindu Mendis fell to Morris for duck. Captain Lashith Malinga also fell to Morris for 8 in 4 balls with 2 fours.

For SA, Chris Morris took 3/32 in 4 overs while Dale Steyn took 2/34 in 3 overs. Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi took 2/16 in 4 overs. Rassie van der Dussen was named Player of the Match.
