SA beat Pakistan by 107 runs in 3rd test, win series 3-0

Patna : South Africa (SA) beat Pakistan by 107 runs in the third test at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa, on the 4th day of the match on January 14, 2019, making a clean sweep of the three-match series. Fast bowler Duanne Olivier was named Player of the series while Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Match.

Set a target of 381, Pakistan were all out for 273 in 65.4 overs in the first session of the play on day 4 with Asad Shafiq scoring 65 in 71 balls with 11 fours while spinner Shadab Khan remained unbeaten on 47 in 66 balls with 7 four.

Resuming at their overnight score of 153/3, Pakistan lost their fourth wicket that of Babar Azam at 162. Babar Azam fell to Duanne Olivier for 21. Captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed also fell to Olivier for zero at 162 itself. Pakistan lost their 6th wicket that of Asad Shafiq at 179. Shafiq fell to Vernon Philander. Fast bowler Hasan Ali scored 22 in 14 balls with 2 fours and a six while Faheem Ashraf made 15. Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas was run out for 9. Shadab Khan and Abbas added 31 runs for the 10th wicket.

For South Africa, Duanne Olivier took 3/74 while Kagiso Rabada took 3/75. Dale Steyn took 2/80 while Vernon Philander took 1/41. Olivier took 24 wickets in the three-match series. Olivier took 8 wickets in the 3rd test.

South Africa had scored 262 in their first innings and 303 in the second. Pakistan scored 185 in their first innings and 273 in their second innings.
