Patna : South Africa (SA) defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the 3rd ODI at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, SA, on March 7, 2020, handing over the visitors a 3-0 whitewash in the three-match series. Chasing a target of 255 runs, SA scored 258/4 in 45.3 overs registering an emphatic win with Heinrich Klaasen, who had scored an unbeaten 123 in 1st ODI, and 51 in 2nd ODI, scoring an unbeaten 68 runs in 63 balls with 10 fours and a six, the winning six. David Miller remained unbeaten on 3.

Jon Jon Smuts was declared Players Of The Match while Heinrich Klassen was declared Player Of The Series. Steven Smith and David Warner, the two Australian superstars, had an ordinary run in the series. SA captain Quinton de Kock also failed to fire in the series. Australia had won the three-match T20I series 2-1.

Jon Jon Smuts, 31, and Klaasen added 79 runs for the 4th wicket. Smuts fell to Kane Richardson for 84 in 98 balls with 12 fours. Smuts, who had scored 41 in 2nd ODI, added 96 runs with Kyle Verreynne for the 3rd wicket. Verreynne fell to spinner Adam Zampa for 50 in 50 balls hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes. Openers Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock (c& wk) scored 23 and 26 runs respectively adding 47 runs for the first wicket. Malan had scored an unbeaten 129 in 2nd ODI. Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins was not playing in this match.

Batting first, Australia had scored 254/7 in 50 overs with Marnus Labuschange scoring 108 in 108 balls hitting 8 fours, his first ODI ton, and D Arcy Short scoring 36. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh scored 32 in 41 balls hitting 2 fours and a six while fast bowler Jhye Richardson remained unbeaten on 24 in 20 balls hitting 3 fours. Opener David Warner fell to fast bowler Anrich Nortje for 4 while his opening partner Aaron Finch (c) fell to fast bowler Dupavillon, 2, for 22. Steven Smith fell to Andile Phehlukwayo for 20 while Lauschagne fell to Nortje. D Arcy Shot fell to J J Smuts. Alex Carey (wk) also fell to Smuts for a duck.

For SA, Anrich Nortje took 2/35 while Smuts took 2/42. Fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi was not playing in this match. SA had won the toss but opted to bowl.
