Patna : Chasing a target of 305 runs, South Africa (SA) were 94/4 in 40.5 overs in their 2nd innings in 1st test against India at SuperSport Park, Centurion, SA, on day 4 on December 29, 2021, with opener Dean Elgar (captain ) unbeaten on 52 in 122 balls with 7 fours. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has taken 2/22 in 11.5 overs while Mohd Shami and Mohd Siraj took one wicket each. SA need to score 211 runs more on day 5 to win this test with 6 wickets in hand.
Shami, who had taken 5/44 in SA’s first innings, bowled opener Aiden Markram for 1 Keegan Petersen fell to Mohd Siraj for 17 and it was 34/2. Bumrah bowled Rassie van der Dussen for 11 making it 74/3. Elgar and Rssie added 40 runs for 3rd wicket. Bumrah also bowled nighwatchman Keshav Maharaj (spinner) for 8 making it 94/4.. SA had scored 197 runs in their 1st innings
Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 16/1, India were all out for 174 in 50.3 overs in their 2nd innings with Rishabh Pant (wk) scoring 34 runs , opener K LRahul 23,and Ajinkya Rahane scoring 20.Captain Virat Kohli fell to fast bowler Marco Jansen for 18 while Cheteshwar Pujara fell to fast bowler Lungi Nigidi for 16. Rahul also fell to Lungi Nigidi. India had scored 327 runs in their first innings.
For SA, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen took four wickets each while Lungi Ngidi took two wickets.
