Patna : Thirteen wickets fell on the second day of 3rd test between South Africa (SA) and Pakistan at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa, on January 12, 2019. South Africa were 135/5 in their second innings at stumps on day 2 with Hashim Amlla batting on 42 in 90 balls with 8 fours and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock batting on 34 in 35 balls with 6 fours. South Africa lead by 212 runs.

Stand in captain and opener Dean Elgar, who had scored 5 in the first innings, was out for 5 in the second innings too while his opening partner Aiden Markram, who had scored 90 in the first innings, was out for 21 in the second innings. Theunis de Bruyn, who had scored 49 in the first innings, fell to fast bowler Faheem Ashram for 7. Zubayr Hamza, who had scored 41 in the first innings, fell to Faheem Ashraf for duck. Temba Bavuma fell to spinner Shadab Khan for 23 with 3 fours.

For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf took 2/19 while Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Abbas, and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 17/2, Pakistan were all out for 185 in 49.4 overs in their first innings on day 2 with captain and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed scoring 50 in 40 balls 8 fours while Babar Azam scored 49 in 55 balls with 10 fours. Opener Iama-ul-Haq scored 43 in 105 balls with 4 fours while his opening partner Shan Masood scored 4. Azhar Ali was out for zero while Mohammad Abbas made 11.

For South Africa, fast bowler Duanne Olivier took  5/51 in 13 overs while fellow fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 2/41. Vernon Philander took 3/43 in 13 overs. Duanne Olivier, 26, has so far taken 21 wickets against Pakistan in the on going series. South Africa lead the 3-match test series 2-0.
