Patna : South Africa (SA) were 106/4 in 28 overs in their first innings at stumps on Day 2 in the 2nd test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on February 5, 2021, as medium fast bowler Hasan Ali, 25, took 2/29 in 5 overs and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and spinner Nauman Ali took one wicket each. South Africa trail by 166 runs.

Replying to Pakistan’s first innings total of 272, SA were reduced to 81/4 in 24 overs. SA lost their first two wickets that of opener Dean Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen at 26. Elgar fell to Hasan Ali for 15 hitting 3 fours making it 26/1. Rassie van der Dussen also fell to Hasan Ali at the the same score and it was 26/2. Former SA captain Faf du Plessis fell to Faheem Ashraf for 17 and it was 55/3. Opener Aiden Markram fell to spinner Nauman Ali for 32 with 5 fours and it was 81/4.

At stumps, Captain Quinton de Kock was unbeaten on 24 in 11 balls with 5 fours while Temba Bavuma was batting on 15. Kock and Bavuma have added 25 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 5th wicket.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 145/3, Pakistan were all out for 272 in 114.3 overs with SA fast bowler Anrich Nortje taking 5/56 in 24.3 overs while spinner Keshav Maharaj took 3/90 in 45 overs.. For Pakistan, captain Babar Azam scored 77 in 127 balls with 12 fours while Fawad Alam scored 45 in 155 balls with 5 fours. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf remained unbeaten on 78 in 160 balls with 12 fours. Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat.
