Patna : South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 78  in run in the third ODI at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, riding on a superb century on debut by Reeza Hendricks, 28, and 4/57 by fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi and 3/74 by Andile Phehlukwayo. South Africa lead the five-match ODI series 3-0. Sri Lanka had won the toss but opted to bowl.

South Africa made 363/7 in 50 overs with Hendricks scoring 102 in 89 ball with 8 fours and a six Jean-Paul Duminy making 92 in 70 ball with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Hashim Amla scored 59 in 59 ball with 9 fours and a six while David Miller made 51 in 47 ball with 5 fours and a six. Phehlukwayo remained unbeaten on 24 in 11 ball with 3 fours and a six. For Sri Lanka, Thisara Perera took 4/75 and Lahiru Kumara 2/67. Spinner Akila Dhananjaya 1/ 81.

Chasing a target of 364 to win the match, Sri Lanka were all out for 285 in 45.2 overs with Dhananjay de Sila scoring 84 in 66 ball with 8 fours and 3 sixes while Akila Dhananjaya made 37 with 4 fours. Captain Angelo Mathews made 32 with 3 fours and a six while Kusal Mendis made 31 with 4 fours. Kusal Perera made 27 while opener Upul Tharanga made 19.
