Patna : South Africa beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in the 5th ODI at Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa, on January 30, 2019, late night, to clinch the five-match ODI series 3-2. Chasing a target of 241, South Africa scored 241/3 in 40 overs with opener and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock scoring 83 in 58 balls hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes and captain Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen scoring an unbeaten 50 each. Reeza Hendriks scored 34 in 33 balls with 3 fours and a six. Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Match while Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq was named Player of the Series. South Africa had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen were involved in an unbroken partnership of 95 runs for the 4th wicket. du Plessis remained not on 50 in 72 balls with 3 fours while Dussen scored an unbeaten 50 in 61 balls hitting 3 sixes. Opener Hashim Amla fell to fast bowler Shaheen Afridi for 14 I n 17 balls with 2 fours.

Batting first, Pakistan had scored 240/8 in 50 overs with opener Fakhar Zaman scoring 70 in 73 balls with 10 fours and bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim scoring an unbeaten 47 in 41 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Babar Azam scored 24 in 25 balls with 4 fours while captain Shoaib Malik was run out for 31 runs in 44 balls with 1 four.

For South Africa Dwaine Pretorious and Andile Phehlukwayo took two wickets each while Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn took one wicket each. Willem Mulder took one wicket.
