Patna: South Africa were all out for 488 in 136.6 overs before tea on the second day of the 4th cricket test against Australia at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa, on March 31, with Temba Bavuma remaining unbeaten on 95 in 194 balls with 13 fours missing out on his second test century by just five runs. For Australia, fast bowler Pat Cummins took 5/83 in 28.5 overs while spinner Nathan Lyon took 3/182 in 40 overs. Chadd Sayers took 2/78 in 35 overs.

The sixth South African wicket fell on 299 on March 30 when Kagso Rabada was out. But, the last three wickets added 189 runs with spinner Keshav Maharaj scoring 45 in 51 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. He was involved in a 76 run stand with Temba Bavuma for the 9th wicket. Wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock made 39 and was involved in 89 run stand with Bavuma for the 7th wicket. Vernon Philander made 12. On March 30, opener Aiden Markram had scored a brilliant 152 while A B de Villiers made 69.

In reply, Australia were 10/0  in 3 overs in their first innings.
