Patna : Resuming at their overnight score of 266/8 with opener Dean Elgar unbeaten on 121, South Africa were all out for 311 in 97.5 overs before lunch in their first innings on day of the third cricket test against Australia at Newlands, Capetown, South Africa, on March 24, 2018. Dean Elgar carried the bat through the innings remaining 141 not out.

Elgar and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada were involved in a 50 run partnership for the 9th wicket. Rabada was out for 22. It was Elgar’s 11th test century. For Australia, pacer Pat Cummins took 4/78 while Josh Hazlewood and spinner Natahan Lyon took two wickets each.

Replying to  South Africa’s first innings total of 311, Australia were 56/1 in 10 overs with opener David Warner falling to Kagiso Rabada after scoring 30 in 14 balls with 5 fours and a six. Opener Cameron Bancroft was batting on 17 while Usman Khwaja was batting on 5.
