Patna : Third seed Casper Ruud, 22, Norway, and World No 155 Hugo Gaston, 20,France, reached the final of Swiss Open Gstaad, an ATP 250 points clay court tournament at Gstaad, Switzerland, on July 24, 2021. They will clash in the final on July 25, 2021.
World No 14 Casper Ruud, who hwd won Nordea Open title at Bastad, Sweden, last week, beat World No 249 Vit Kopriva, 24, Czech Republic, a qualifier, in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 in semi-final in just 74 minutes winning 9 games in a row. Rudd also won 5 break points in the match to 1 by Kopriva. Both the players served 2 Aces each in the match. Ruud, in all, won 62 points during the match to 37 by Kopriva, who had defeated top seed & World No 10 Denis Shapovalov, 22, Canada, in 2nd round.
World No 155 Hugo Gaston defeated 7th seed Laslo Djere, 26, Serbia, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in semi-final in 1 hr 48 minutes rallying back from one set down. Frenchman Gaston won 5 break points during the match to 3 by World No 52 Djere. But, the Serbian won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by Gaston. The Frenchman , in all, won 86 points during the match to 80 the Serbian.
