Patna : Andrey Rublev, 22, Russia, edged past Sam Querrey, 32, USA, in a five-set marathon at Roland Garros, Paris, France,on September 29, 2020, late night, to enter the 2nd round at French Open 2020. Rublev, the 13th seed, beat Querrey 6-7, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 in first round rallying back from two sets down.
Querrey though hammered 29 Aces in the match to 23 by Rublev, who had reached QFs at US Open recently. Querrey, however, also committed 11 double faults in the match to 2 by the Russian. Rublev won 8 break points to 4 by the American. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Rublev, in all, won 175 points to 158 by Querrey. Rublev will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 21, Spain, in 2nd round on October 1, 2020.
