Motihari : Bipin Agrawal, 50, an RTI activist, was shot dead by two unidentified criminals in broad daylight on September 24, 2021, at the gate of Harsidhi Block office in East Champaran District in North Bihar, in the afternoon, when he was on going to
block office.. As he was entering the block office premises, the two  criminals opened fires on him and he fell down on the ground as two  bullets hit his chest.  He was taken to a private nursing home at Motihari by the locals where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Bipin Agrawal was resident of Harsidhi Market and is the second RTI activist after Rajendra Singh  to be have been killed in last
one year in the district.

East Champaran  SP Navin Chandra Jha said that  an SIT team  headed by  ASP Abhinav Dhiman has been formed to investigate this blooded murder and arrest the criminals. He further said that  the family members of deceased Bipin Agrawal have not filed any case with police in this connection so far and police are awaiting it. Police are investigating the incident from different angles  as he had strained relations with several persons  in Harsidhi Market.  It  may be mentioned here that a murderous  attack was made on Bipin Agrawal last year  but he  escaped. A mob had  attacked his house  and  assaulted his family member.

Bipin Agrawal  had  revealed  through RTI  that 99 persons  had encroached  the government land in Harsidhi Market  last year and the  administration is initiating action against  encroachers now.   More than  one dozen cases of corruption  and  irregularities allegedly by  government officials were also highlighted by the slain RTI  activist and the administration has  initiated  action  against  the officials concerned.

Meanwhile, the local people  and political activists have demanded  immediate arrest of the criminals  involved in murder of Bipin Agrawal.
