Sasaram : A human trafficking gang has become quite active in Rohtas District in South Bihar in last two years and has allegedly sold some girls from poor families in Rajasthan. Such girls are often married to elderly persons in Rajsthan. The matter came to surface after Rohtas police seized an Innova Car and arrested its driver though police released him on PR after interrogation. Rohtas District administration has formed police team that visited Kalyanpur (Banjari), Labour Resource Department, and Childline in connection with its investigation into the matter.

The villagers informed the Child Line that a bus from Rajasthan had come to Rohtas District several times. The Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) cum DM-in-Charge, Surendra Prasad, had ordered investigation into the matter. The officials went door to door to gather information about the bus. But, the driver fled away with the bus after he got some information about the probe.

The officials suspect that a human trafficking gang is active in this area. It was said that a teenage girl was taken to Rajasthan seven months ago and was not heard of since. The gang first gets birth certificates of teenage girls to prove they are adult and thereafter they areĀ  taken to Rajasthan.

Labour Superintendent, Satyaprakash Satyaprakash, said that he got information that some local girls were sold in Ajmer and other districts of Rajasthan and the district administration in investigating the matter. He said that two years’ record were being reviewed and CDR of mobile phone of some persons are being taken out while some mobile numbers have been put on surveillance. Town Police station Inspector said that police interrogated the driver of Innova car but he was released on PR as nothing concrete was found against him.
