Motihari :  With a view to strengthening the cleanliness drive in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu, on March 27, 2019, flagged off 5 automatic Road Sweeping machines at a special function attended among others by the representatives of 32 Wards. These Sweeping Machines were  imported  from Italy by Nepal government.

Mayor Shakya said that the Kathmandu valley has turned into a dust bowl due to the on going construction work after
earthquake in Nepal. Shakya said he tried his best to import these machines last year itself but got it this year. Around 751 sweepers are deployed daily to clean the roads at Kathmandu.These machines can hold up to 500 litres of water to clean
25,000 square metres of area in one hour. Their maximum speed is 42 kmph per hour .
