Sitamarhi : Five unidentified bike borne criminals shot dead a road construction company caretaker (Munshi) Vinod Rai, 40,  at village Kundal under Mahindwara police station in Sitamarhi district on January 7, 2019, evening. The criminals riding on two bikes reached the construction site at village Kundal and fired ten  bullets on Vinod Rai. He sustained six bullet injuries and died on the spot.

The deceased was a resident of village Bankul under Minapur block in Muzaffarpur district. While leaving the site, the assailants threw some leaflets in the name of Saroj Rai and Rakesh Rai. The villagers attributed the incident to non- payment of 10% levy to Saroj-Rakesh gang. The gang had been demanding ‘Rangdari’ (extortion amount) from the construction company owner Ram Swarth Rai and he had informed the police about it. The criminals were demanding levy in the Mahindwara-Kundal- Giddha road project worth Rs 2.35 Crore.
A police team under the leadership of ASP Vijay Shankar Singh visited the place of occurrence and raids are on to nab the criminals.
