Ara : Some unidentified armed miscreants shot dead an RJD leader in Bhojpur district. Police recovered the body from village Ramdihara near Sahani Mor under Gadhani police station on December 24, 2020, morning, and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
The deceased was identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Haridwar Singh of village Bhedari under Ayar police station in Bhojpur district. As the news of his murder spread, villagers became agitated and blocked the road demanding immediate arrest of the assailants.
The family members said that he had gone to a nearby village to attend a rituals on December 23, 2020, and when he did not return till late night, they searched for him and on December 24, 2020, his body was found. He was married a year ago and was survived by his pregnant wife.Sources said that the deceased had unsuccessfully contested the last Panchayat election for the post of Mukhia.
Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that the miscreants had called him and killed him. The SP added that the RJD leader had been in jail in a GRP case earlier. He said that an FIR has been lodged with police in connection with the murder and police are investigating the matter.
