New Delhi : The massive increase in the number of COVID-19 patients being declared cured/discharged continues in India reaching 31,07,223 at 8 am on September 5, 2020, a record increase of 70,072 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by a huge margin of 22,60,828.

India has reported 40,23,179 COVID cases till date of which 31,07, 223 patients have been declared cured including 6,25,773 in Maharashtra, 3,92,507 in Tamilnadu, and 3,70,163 in Andhra Pradesh with the recovery rate being 77.23%. A total of 86,432 new COVID cases were reported during last 24 hours in the country. Altogether 4,77,38,491 COVID samples have been tested in India till date including 10,59,346 on September 4, 2020.

On the negative side, the COVID-19 death toll jumped to 69,561 in the country with 1,089 new deaths being reported from different places during last 24 hours including 378 from Maharashtra, 116 from Karnataka, 79 from Tamilnadu, 76 from Andhra Pradesh, 71 from UP, 58 from West Bengal, 49 from Punjab, and 30 from MP. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.73 % in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on September 5, 2020, is : Maharashtra (25,964), Tamilnadu (7,687), Karnataka (6,170), Delhi (4,513), Andhra Pradesh (4,276), Uttar Pradesh (3,762), West Bengal (3,452), Gujarat (3,076), Madhya Pradesh (1,513), Rajasthan (1,108),  Punjab (1,739), Telengana (877), J&K (755), Haryana (759), Bihar (701), Odisha (531), Jharkhand (447), Assam (345), Uttarakhand (312), Kerala (326),  Chhattisgarh (337), Puducherry (280), Goa (220), Tripura (136), Chandigarh (68),  Andaman & Nicobar (49), Himachal Pradesh (50), Ladakh (35), Manipur (35), Nagaland (10), Meghalaya (14), Arunachal Pradesh (7), Sikkim (5), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 741 in the state on September 4, 2020.
