New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patient getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 24,04,585 at 8 am on August 25, 2020, registering a record increase of 66,550 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by 17,00,237.

India has reported 31,67,323 COVID-19 cases till date of which 24,04,585 ( 75.92%) patients have been declared cured. The number of active cases in the country was 7,04,348 (22.24%) on August 25, 2020. A total of 3,68,27,520 COVID-19 samples have been tested in the country till date including 9,25,383 during last 24 hours.

Altogether 5,02,490 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,25,456 in Tamilnadu, 2,68,828 in Andhra Pradesh, 1,97,625 in Karnataka, 1,46,588 in Delhi, and 1,40,107 in UP till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll in the country, on the other hand, has jumped to 58,390 with 848 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 212 from Maharashtra, 97 from Tamilnadu, 127 from Karnataka, 86 from Andhra Pradesh, 61 from UP, 57 from West Bengal, 43 from Punjab, 17 from MP, 13 from Gujarat, and 13 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.84% in the country.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 24, 2020, is : Maharashtra (22,465), Tamilnadu (6,614), Delhi (4,313), Karnataka (4,810), Gujarat (2,908), Andhra Pradesh (3,368), Uttar Pradesh (2,987), West Bengal (2,851), Madhya Pradesh (1,246), Rajasthan (967),  Punjab (1,129), Telengana (770), J&K (624), Haryana (613), Bihar (514), Odisha (419), Jharkhand (330), Assam (252), Uttarakhand (207), Kerala (234),  Chhattisgarh (206), Puducherry (164), Goa (148), Tripura (78), Chandigarh (37),  Andaman & Nicobar (35), Himachal Pradesh (29), Ladakh (23), Manipur (22), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (8), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 627  in the state on August 24, 2020.
