New Delhi : The exponential increase in the number if COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 20,37,870 at 8 am on August 19, 2020, a record increase of 60,091 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 13,61,356. The number of active cases was 6,76,514 on August 19, 2020.

A total of 4,37,870 COVID patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 2,89,787 in Tamilnadu, 2,18,311 in Andhra Pradesh, 1,56,949 in Karnataka, 1,39,447 in Delhi, and 1,09,607 in UP till date.  A total of 3,17,42,782 COVID samples have been tested in the country till date including 8,01,518 on August 18, 2020.

On the negative side, COVID death toll jumped to 52,889 in India on August 19, 2020, with 1,092 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during past 24 hours including 422 from Maharashtra, 139 from Karnataka, 121 from Tamilnadu, 88 from Andhra Pradesh, 70 from UP, 55 from West Bengal, 35 from Punjab, 20 from Gujarat, and 12 from Delhi,  according to Union Health Ministry sources.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 19, 2020, is : Maharashtra (20,687), Tamilnadu (6,007), Delhi (4,226), Karnataka (4,201), Gujarat (2,820), Andhra Pradesh (2,820), Uttar Pradesh (2,585), West Bengal (2,528), Madhya Pradesh (1,141), Rajasthan (898),  Punjab (898), Telengana (719), J&K (561), Haryana (557), Bihar (476), Odisha (362), Jharkhand (262), Assam (203), Uttarakhand (164), Kerala (175),  Chhattisgarh (158), Puducherry (123), Goa (116), Tripura (65), Chandigarh (30),  Andaman & Nicobar (30), Himachal Pradesh (19), Manipur (18), Ladakh (17), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (2).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 558 in the state on August 18, 2020.
