New Delhi : The burst in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 18,08,936 at 8 am on August 15, 2020, a record increase of 57,381 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 11,40,716. The number of active cases stands at 6,68,220.
In Maharashtra alone, 4,01,442 COVID patients have been declared cured followed by 2,67,015 in Tamilnadu, 1,80,703 in AndhraPradesh, 1,35,108 in Delhi, and 1,28,182 in Karnataka.
On the negative side, the COVID death toll in India surged to 49,036 on August 15 morning with 996 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during past 24 hours including 364 from Maharashtra, 117 from Tamilnadu, 104 from Karnataka, 97 from Andhra Pradesh, 60 from West Bengal, 55 from UP, 15 from Gujarat, and 11 from Delhi.
The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 15, 2020, is : Maharashtra (19,427), Tamilnadu (5,514), Delhi (4,178), Karnataka (3,717), Gujarat (2,746), Andhra Pradesh (2,475), Uttar Pradesh (2,335), West Bengal (2,319), Madhya Pradesh (1,081), Rajasthan (846), Telengana (684), Punjab (731), Haryana (518), J&K (520), Bihar (442), Odisha (324), Jharkhand (224), Assam (175), Uttarakhand (147), Kerala (139), Chhattisgarh (130), Puducherry (106), Goa (93), Tripura (50), Chandigarh (28), Andaman & Nicobar (24), Himachal Pradesh (19), Manipur (13), Ladakh (9), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).
As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll had reached 500 in the state on August 14, 2020.
