New Delhi : The massive increase in COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 16,39,599 at 8 am on August 12, 2020, a record increase of 56,110 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 9,95,651, again a record. The number of active cases stand at 6,43,948 in India.

COVID-19 death toll in India, on the other hand, has jumped to 46,091 with 834 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 250 from Maharashtra, 118 from Tamilnadu, 87 from Andhra Pradesh, 86 from Karnataka, 56 from UP, 49 from West Bengal, 23 in Gujarat, 11 in Haryana, and 8 in Delhi. The COVID death toll crossed hundred mark in Chhattisgarh on August 12, 2020.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 12, 2020, is : Maharashtra (18,306),Tamilnadu (5,159), Delhi (4,139), Karnataka (3,398), Gujarat (2,695), Uttar Pradesh (2,176), West Bengal (2,149), Andhra Pradesh (2,203), Madhya Pradesh (1,033), Rajasthan (811), Telengana (654), Punjab (636), Haryana (500), J&K (490), Bihar (413), Odisha (296), Jharkhand (192), Assam (155), Uttarakhand (136), Kerala (120),  Chhattisgarh (104), Puducherry (91), Goa (86), Tripura (43), Chandigarh (26),  Andaman & Nicobar (21), Himachal Pradesh (18), Manipur (12), Ladakh (9), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (3), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1). As far Bihar figure goes, according to the State Government, the COVID death toll had reached 465 in the state on August 11, 2020.

Altogether 3,68,435 COVID patients have been declared cured till date in Maharashtra followed by 2,50,680 in Tamilnadu, 1,32,384 in Delhi, 1,05,599 in Karnataka, 80,589 in UP, 73,395 in West Bengal, and 61,294 in Telengana.
