New Delhi : A record 4,22,436 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours, up from 3,78,741 on May 17, 2021, an increase of 43,695, taking the tally to 2,15,96,512 at 8 am on May 18, 2021. On the other hand, India logged 2,63,533 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, further down from 2,81,386 on May 17, 2021, taking the tally to 2,52,28,996 cases on May 18, 2021.
The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 85.60% in India on May 18 from 84.81% on May 17, 2021. The country also recorded 4,329 new deaths in last 24 hours, the highest since the outbreak of the pandemic, taking the tally to 2,78,719 on May 18, 2021.
Active cases dropped to 33,53,765 in the country, a drop of a massive 1,63,232 cases in last 24 hours, and accounted for 13.29% of the total Covid-19 cases (2,52,28,996) on May 18, 2021. India has tested 31,82,92,881 samples so far including 18,69,223 samples on May 17, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 18,44,53,149 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 15,10,418 beneficiaries on May 18, 2021.
The 4,329 new Covid-19 deaths in last 24 hours in the country included 1,000 in Maharashtra, 476 in Karnataka, 340 in Delhi, 335 in Tamilnadu, 271 in Uttar Pradesh, 223 in Uttarakhand, 191 in Punjab, 157 in Rajasthan, 149 in Chhattisgarh, 147 in West Bengal, 114 in Haryana, 109 in Andhra Pradesh, 96 in Bihar, 92 in Assam, 87 in Kerala, 81 in Gujarat, 77 in Madhya Pradesh, 73 in J&K, 60 in Jharkhand, and 53 in Goa. India had recorded 4,106 new deaths on May 17, 2021.
