Patna : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 4 wickets in the 54th match of IPL-12 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on May 4, 2019, late night, with West Indian Shimron Hetmyer,22, scoring  76 in 47 balls hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, 28, scoring 65 in 48 balls with 8 fours and a six. Hetmyer and Gurkeerat added 144 runs for the 4th wicket with the hundred coming in 64 balls. Hetmyer was named Player of the Match.

RCB’s victory is creditable as they had lost the wickets of their captain Virat Kohli ( 16), Parthiv Patel (0) and A B de Villiers ( 1) with only 20 runs on board. But, Hetmyer and Gurkeerat steadied the innings with a 144 run partnership taking the SRH bowlers to the cleaners.

Replying to SRH’s 175/7, RCB scored 178/6 in 19.2 overs with fast bowler Umesh Yadav hitting two consecutive fours on the first two balls of the 20th over bowled by spinner Mohd Nabi. There was a mild collapse after the departure of Hetmyer as Gurkeerat followed him 3 runs later and one run later Washington Sundar was gone making it 168/6.  RCB had won the toss but opted to bowl.

For SRH, K Khaleel Ahmad took 3/37 in 4 overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2/24 in 4 overs. Spinner Rashid Khan took 1/44 in 4 overs.

Batting first, SRH had scored 175/7 with captain Kane Williamson scoring an unbeaten 70 in 47 balls hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes while opener Martin Guptil scored 30. For RCB, Washington Sundar took 3/24 in 3 overs.
