Patna : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 14 runs in the high scoring 51st match of IPL 2018 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on May 17, 2018, night, although SRH captain Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey made a brilliant effort to attain the victory target of 219. SRH made 204/3 in 20 overs.

Williomson made 81 runs in 42 ball hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes while Pandey remained unbeaten on 62 in 38 ball with 7 fours and 2 sixes. With this win, RCB have kept their hope of qualifying for the play off alive.

SRH had won the won the toss but opted to bowl. RCB made 218/6 in 20 overs with A B de Villiers, South Africa,  scoring 69 in 39 ball hitting 12 fours and a six and Moeen Ali, England, scoring 65 in 34 ball hitting 2 fours and 6 sixes. Colin de Grandhomme made 40 in 17 ball hitting 4 sixes and 1 four. SarfarazKhan remained not out on 22 in 8 ball hitting  3 fours and a six. SRH spinner Rashid Khan took 3/27 in 4 overs.

In reply, SRH made a solid start with their first wicket falling on 47 when Shikhar Dhawan departed after scorin 18 hitting 2 sixes. His opening partner Alex Hales, England, made 37 hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Williamson and Pandey were then involved in a 135 run partnership for the third wicket.

RCB have now 12 points from 13 matches while SRH top the points table with 18 points from 13 matches.
