Ara : Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha on March 27, 2020, revised the rates of vegetables, foodgrains, sanitisers, and masks with a view to checking black marketing of essential commoditie. The DM said henceforth prices of essential commodities will be revised on daily basis. Ara Sadar SDO, Arun Prakash, had fixed rates of essential commodities earlier which were much higher than normal market rates.
Taking advantage of lockdown due to Coronavirus, shopkeepers dealing in vegetables, foodgrains, sanitisers and masks were selling them at high rates in black market overlooking appeal of officials of Bhojpur district. Potatoes are selling at Rs 160 per 5kg, boiled rice at Rs 4,000 per quintal, rice at Rs 4,200 per quintal, wheat at Rs 2,500 per quintal, gram at Rs 7,000 quintal, green lentil at Rs 15,000 per quintal, pigeon pea at Rs 15,000 per quintal, salt at Rs 250 per kg, flour at Rs 5,500 per quintal, sugar at Rs 4,200 per quintal, mustard oil at Rs 150 per litre, refined oil at Rs 1,500 per 15 litre, jaggery at Rs. 4,300 per quintal, onion at Rs 3,000 per quintal, black gram at Rs 10,000 per quintal, milk at Rs 55 per packet, Palm oil at Rs 1,600 per 16kg, groundnut oil at Rs 1,500 per 5 litre, vegetable oil at Rs 1,700 per 10 litre, Soa oil at Rs 150 per litre, Sunflower oil at Rs 160 per litre, tea leaves at Rs 350 per kg, Tomato at Rs 50 per kg, mask at Rs 150 per piece, and sanitiser at 300 per piece in the open market.
Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha fixed rates of sugar at Rs 38 per kg, flour at Rs 30 to Rs 35 per kg, mustard oil at Rs 120 per litre, pigeon pea at Rs 90 per kg, lentil at Rs 70 per kg, rice at Rs 28 to Rs. 35 per kg, salt (Tata) at Rs 18 per kg, refined oil at Rs 105 per litre, gram at Rs 60 per kg.
Again, to check gathering and maintaining social distancing, Bhojpur district administration put markers at every one meter for the customers from the entry of any shop and directed them not to gather at a point and stand on the mark instead. The DM provided home delivery of essential items and earmarked four shops for it. He earmarked JSN City Centre Mall (9608260027), Daily Needs (9431066582), A to Z (9334538956), and Vishal Mega Mart (7217887960).
Besides, the officials of Bhojpur district administration and police officials are on their toes round the clock to ensure complete compliance of lockdown but recalcitrant people particularly the youth are still moving freely. fter the sunset, youngsters come out of their houses on foot or on motorcycle like any usual day without any specific reason and throng vegetable markets, groceries, medical shops. Tea and betel stalls and other shops remain open since morning. Seeing the violators on roads without specific reason, police seized their motorcycles and also punished them on spot for violating the lockdown.
Meanwhile, Ara Municipal Corporation came out of hibernation and sanitised several localities and also cleaned the roads by removing filth and garbage.
