Ramkumar, Prajnesh lose in 1st round of Atlanta Open

Patna : Both Ramkumar Ramnathan, 23, and Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 28, India, lost in the first round of  Atlanta Open Tennis championship, an ATP event in USA, on July 24, 2018, night. Ramkumar Ramnathan, ranked 115 in the the ATP rankings, lost to World No 65 Taylor Fritz, 20, USA, in straight sets 4-6, 4-6 in the first round.

Fritz fired 10 Aces in the match to 7 by Ramkumar, who had reached the final of Hall of Fame Tennis Championship, Newport, USA, last week. Fritz broke Ramkumar’s service once in both the sets.

World No 186 Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 28, a qualifier, lost to World No 71 Lukas Lacko, 30, Slovakia, 2-6, 2-6 in the first round. Lacko won 5 break points compared to 1 by Prajnesh. Lacko also served 4 Aces to just 1 by Prajnesh.
