Rain, hailstorm damage Rabi crops, Mango, Litchi in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi: Rain and hailstorm, which lashed different parts of Sitamarhi district including Sitamarhi district  Bokhara, Nanpur, Pupri and Runnisaidpur blocks on March 10,2017, evening, has caused considerable damage to  Rabi crops besides Mango and Litchi. Under Runnisaidpur block hails weighing up to 250 gm lashed a few villages.

The farmers appear quite disappointed over the huge damage caused to the Rabi crops, Mango and Litchi. Crops like Wheat, Maize, oil seeds, pulse plants and tobacco were virtually smashed, said Pankaj Kumar, a farmer of village Belahi-Neelkanth. Manikchowk West Panchayat Mukhia Jitendra Patel said that compensation from government is the only hope for the farmers. Circle Officer (CO), Runnisaidpur block, Mritunjay Kumar said that loss was being assessed and after that the administration would take suitable action.
