Ragala Venkat Rahul wins gold in 85 kg weightlifting at CWG

Patna : Ragala Venkat Rahul, 21, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, won gold medal for India in 85 kg weightlifting category at Gold Coast Gommonwealth Games 2018, Australia, on April 7, 2018. With this, India’s gold medal medal tally at the Gold Coast CWG increased to four, all four in the weighlifting. Earlier on the day, Sathish Sivalingam, Tamil Nadu, India, had won gold medal in 77 kg category.

Ragala Venkat Rahul lifted a total of 338 kg – 151 kg in snatch and 187 kg in clean & jerk. His father Madhu Ragala was a weightlifter at university level.
