Patna : World No 50 Sam Querrey, 32, USA, upset 2nd seed Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, in a three-set thriller to enter the quarter-finals of Stockholm Open, an ATP World Tour 250 points event, at Stockholm, Sweden, on October 16, 2019, evening. Querrey edged past World No 27 Dimitrov 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 in 2 hr 14 minutes in 2nd round battling back from a set down.

Apart from winning a break point and 3 games in a row in the match, Querrey hammered 25 Aces in the match to 9 by the Bulgarian. The American won 82 service points to 73 by the Bulgarian.

World No 74 Yoshihito Nishioka, 24, Japan, also entered the QFs defeating 3rd seed Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, 7-5, 6-4 in 80 minutes in second round. World No 29 Fritz though fired 9 Aces in the match to just 1 by Nishioka. But, the Japanese won 4 break points in the match to 2 by the American. Nishioka won 39 service points to 36 by Fritz. Nishioka also won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by Fritz.

World No 60 Filip Krajinovic, 27, Serbia, upset World No 43 Dan Evans, 29, Great Britain, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in 2nd round on October 17, 2019, to enter the QFs. Both the players won 4 break points each in the match. Both of them also won 3 games each in a row in the match. Evans fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by Krajinovic. Krajinovic will face Nishioka in the QFs on October 18, 2019.
