Patna : Qualifier and World No 123 Jiri Vesely, 28, Czech Republic, stunned World No 1 & top seed Novak Djokovic, 34, Serbia, in straight sets in quarter-final of Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, an ATP 500 series hard courts event at Dubai, UAE, on February 24, 2022, evening, to reach semi-finals of the tournament.

Vesely defeated Djokovic 6-4, 7-6 in quarter-final in 1hr 58 minutes. Vesely won 3 break points during the match to 2 by the Serbian World No 1. Both the players fired 9 Aces each during the match. Both of them also won 3 games each in a row during the match. But, the Czech won the tie-break to send Djokovic packing out of the tournament in one of biggest upset in recent months. Vesely, in all, won 74 points in the match to 71 by Djokovic. The Serbian committed 4 double faults to 3 by Vesely. Both of them won 26 receiving points each in the match.

Second seed Andrey Rublev, 24, Russia, beat World No 61 Mackenzie Mcdonald, 26, USA, in three-sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in QF reallying back from one set down in 1hrv43minutes to enter SF reachs of the event.
