Darbhanga : A prominent contractor of Darbhanga and owner of a construction company Kushesh Prasad Shahi, in mid forties, was shot dead by unidentified bike criminals around 10 am on December 22 near Ranipur on NH 57 under Sadar Police Station, Darbhanga. The criminals fired on Kushesh Prasad Shahi, a road construction contractor, when he was going to his office from his residence by his car. The assailants escaped unchallenged.
Confirming the murder of Kushesh Prasad Shahi, SSP, Darbhanga, Gareema Mallik, a 2006 batch IPS officer, said initial investigation suggests family enmity to be the reason behind the incident. The SSP ruled out the possibility of professional rivalry or extortion demand to be the reason behind his murder. Kushesh Prasad Shahi belonged to Nalanda district but the family had shifted to Darbhanga about 30 years back, the SSP said adding the deceased had two wives. The first wife lives in Nalanda, the SSP said.
