Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Three students of DPS Bokaro, Jharkhand, have been selected to represent their school at the District Level Exhibition & Project Competition to be organised by the District Education Authority, Bokaro.

In the INSPIRE Award – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) conducted by Department of Science & Technology (DST) with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), Utkarsh Raj (Innovation: Smart Bins) , Abhineet Sharan (Innovation: Eat Well-Anti Shaking Spoon for Old People) of Class IX, and Anjali Kumari (Innovation: Girl Safety through Automatic Calling Watch) of Class VIII were selected on the basis of their projects.

The award aims to motivate students studying in classes 6 to 10. The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children.

The students received a sum of Rs 10,000 each and they will also participate at the District Level Competition. Further, the  students will be shortlisted to participate at State Level Competition. Finally, one thousand students will get an opportunity to showcase their innovations at the National level. Sixty innovative projects will be incubated completely (patent filing, value addition in technology and product development etc.) by NIF and will be displayed at the annual Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FINE). The scheme is aligned with the Action Plan for “Start-up India” initiative launched by the Prime Minister of India.

Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, expressed his happiness on this achievement and said, “Such competitions provide an opportunity to the students to engage with the leading minds in science and technology and help them grow up to drive scientific research and innovation thereby contributing towards a progressive nation.” He wished the students best of luck for the next round.
