Professional dancer succumbs to bullet injuries at PMCH

Sasaram : A professional dancer succumbed to her bullet injuries during treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on April 11, 2017, morning. After her death, police brought the body to village Sarana under Dinara police station in Rohtas district for last rites. A named FIR had been lodged with  Dinara police station regarding firing on her on her statement six days ago but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

Chandani Rani, a resident of village Chandi under Bikramganj police station in Rohtas district, worked with the  owner of a dance party. She was too poor to earn two square meal a day and so became a professional dancer. She, off and on, visited Sarana village for performance. Her parents live in Chhatisgarh.

On April 5, 2017, Chandani Rani had come to Dilip Yadav at village Ghodwachh under Dinara police station to perform dance during ‘Chaita’ programe. Some influential persons of the village forced her to dance putting ‘lota’ on her head and they fired targeting the ‘lota’. Afraid of the firing, Chandani refused to dance in this style after which  some persons shot at her. Chandani was admitted to a private clinic at Bikramganj first but later the doctor referred her to PMCH in a precarious condition on April 7, 2017.
