Patna : The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, on December 11, 2018, accepted the resignation of Upendra Kushwaha from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution, according to a PIB release.
Minister of state for HRD Upendra Kushwaha, the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president, had resigned from the Union Council of Ministers on December 10, 2018, following differences with the NDA leadership over seat distribution for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The RLSP, which had won three seats in 2014 LS polls, was reportedly being offered only two seats for the 2019 LS polls. He was also quite upset over the prominence being given to JD(U) President and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in the NDA. Kushwaha has quit the NDA as well.
