Pregnant woman killed for dowry at Bhojpur village

Ara : An eight month pregnant woman Lalsaa Devi, 22, was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws at village Sedaha under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district on July 17, 2017, night for a gold ring. Police seized the body from the cremation ground when the in-laws were trying to perform her last rites to wipe out evidence and also arrested her husband.

Later, police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR was lodged with Tarari police station against five persons including the husband of the deceased Manoj Chaudhary,

SHO Tarari Police Station said that Lalsaa Devi, daughter of Budhu Mahto of Sherpur under Maner police station in Patna district, was married to Manoj Chaudhary, son of Surendra Chaudhary of Sedaha village under Tarari police station, in 2015 and ever since her husband and in-laws were torturing her for a gold ring. In the meantime, she became pregnant and was eight month pregnant when she was killed.
