Patna : World No 15 B Sai Praneeth, 27, India, went down fighting to World No 9 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 22, Indonesia, in three games in the quarter-finals of Victor China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament, at Changzhou, China, on September 20, 2019. Ginting had defeated World No 35 Parupalli Kashyap, India, in 2nd round on September 19.
Ginting, the 7th seed, beat Praneeth in a three-game slugfest 16-21, 21-6, 21-16 in 55 minutes at Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou, China, to enter the semi-finals of the tournament. Ginting won 58 rallies in the match to 43 by Praneeth. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Praneeth. The two players are now locked 3-3 Head to Head. Praneeth had reached SFs of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, in August 2019
Ginting will face World No 4 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, in the semi-finals on September 21, 2019. Antonsen, the 8th seed, beat World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, Taiwan, 21-17, 21-11 in 49 minutes in QFs.
