Patna : World No 16 B Sai Praneeth, 29, India, reached the quarter-finals of SimInvest Indonesia Open 2021, an HSBC BWF World Tour Tour Super 1,000 badminton tournament, at Bali, Indonesia, on November 25 , 2021, defeating World No 72 Chrito Popov, 19, France, in three-games in 2nd round.
Praneeth defeated Christo Popov 21-17, 14-21, 21-19 in 1hr 23 minutes in second round. Praneeth, in all, won 57 points during the match to 56 points by the Frenchman. Christo also won 7 consecutive points during the match to 4 by the Indian.
But, World No 15 Kidambi Srikanth, 28, India, lost to reigning Olympic gold medallist and 2nd seed Viktor Axelsen, 27, Denmark, in straight games 21-14, 21-18 in 37 minutes in 2nd round. Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, won 42 points during the match to 32 points by Srikanth. The Dane also won 9 consecutive points during the match to 5 by Srikanth.
