Patna : World Number 260 in Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 28, Chennai, India, won his first singles title on the ATP Challenger Circuit on April 29, 2018, defeating  Mohammed Safwat, 27, Cairo, Egypt, in the final of Kunming Open at Aining, China.

Gunneswaran defeated Safwat 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in 112 minutes securing 125 ranking points besides earning USD 21,600. The 125 ranking points will help him jump almost 80 places in the next ATP rankings to be released on April 30, 2018.
