Prajnesh loses in 2nd round of ATP Los Cabos Open, Fognini & Fruitz enter QFs

Patna : India No 1 and World No 90 Prajnesh Gunneswaran lost to World No 28 Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, in the second round of Los Cabos Open, an ATP 250 points tournament, in Mexico, on August 1, 2019. Fritz beat Gunneswaran in three-sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in second round to progress to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

World No 9 and top seed Fabio Fognini, Italy, entered the QFs after defeating World No 103 Marcel Granollers, 33, Spain, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second round. Fognini won 5 break points to 4 by Granollers. The Spaniard though won 4 games in a row to 3 by Fognini. Granollers fired 9 Aces in the match to 4 by the Italian. Fognini will face Fritz in the QFs on August 2, 2019.

World No 59 Juan Ignacio Londero, 25, Argentina,  lost to World No 112 Kwon Soon-Woo, 21, South Korea,  4-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the second round. Kwon won 3 break points in the match to 2 by Londero. Londero fired 7 Aces in the match to 2 by Kwon. He will face World No 24 Guido Pella, 29, Argentina, in the QFs on August 2, 2019. Pella defeated World No 57 Grigor Dimitrov, Bulgaria, 6-4, 6-2 in the 2nd round.
