Patna : Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 31, India, entered the quarter-finals of ATP Orlando Challenger in USA on November 18, 2020, late night, after his Round of 16 opponent Wu Tung-Lin, 22, Taiwan, retired in third set trailing 0-2. Lin won the first set 7-5 while Prajnesh won the second set 7-5.
Prajnesh, the 4th seed, who has jumped 9 places to be ranked World No 137 after reaching the final of ATP Cary Challenger in USA last week, won 5 break points in the match to 4 by Lin. World No 250 Lin, however, fired 6 Aces in the match to just 1 by the Indian. Prajnesh committed 6 double faults to 4 by Lin. The Indian, in all, won 90 points in the match to 85 by Lin. Prajndsh won 7 games in a row to 6 by Lin.
Prajnesh will face World No 172 & 6th seed Dmitry Popko, 24, Kazakhstan, in QFs on November 20, 2020. The winner of the singles title at the event will get 80 ATP Rankings points while the finalist will get 48 points. The semi-finalists will get 29 Rankings points while the quarter-finalists will get 15 points each. Ramkumar Ramnathan, India, the 7th seed, lost in the Round of 32.
