Patna : India No 1 Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 30, lost to 4th seed Kwon Soon-woo, 22, South Korea, in the second round of Tata Open Maharashtra, an ATP World Tour 250 event, at Pune, Maharashtra, India, on February 6, 2020. World No 88 Kwon beat World No 122 Prajnesh in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 in 2nd round.

Both the players fired 6 Aces each in the match. But, kwon won 2 break points to 1 by the Indian. Kwon also won 3 games in a row in the match. Both Kwon and Prajnesh won 50 service points each in the match. Kwon’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (82 % 7 60 %) was higher than that of Prajnesh (64% & 54 %).

Sixth seed James Duckworth, 28, Australia, defeated Taro Daniel, 27, Japan, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 battling back from one set down to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. The Australian hammered 16 Aces in the match to 15 by Daniel. World No 96 Duckworth committed 4 double faults to 2 by the Japanese. The Australian won 2 break points to 1 by the Japanese. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match.

World No 90 Egor Gerasimov, 27, Belarus, defeated Nikola Milojevic, 24, Serbia, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 rallying back from one set down in second round to enter the QFs of the event. Gerasimov fired 8 Aces in the match to 4 by Qualifier Milojevic. He won 3 break points in the match to 2 by World No 148 Milojevic. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Gerasimov will face Kwon in QFs on February 7, 2020.
