Pospisil stuns Shapovalov to enter QFs of Open Sud de France

Patna : World No 132 Vasek Pospisil, 29, Canada, routed compatriot Denis Shapovalov, 20, the World No 16, 6-2, 6-3 in second round of  Open Sud de France, an ATP 250 hard court event, at Montpellier, France, to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament on February 6, 2020.

Pospisil, who had reached Wimbledon QFs in 2015, won 3 break points in the match to none by 3rd seed Shapovalov. He fired 4 Aces in the match to 5 by Shapovalov. Pospisil also won 3 games in a row in the match.

Richard Gasquet, 33, France, Feliciano Lopez, 38, Spain, in three-sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 rallying back from one set down in 2nd round to enter the QFs. Lopez though hammered 21 Aces in the match to 7 by Gasquet. Lopez, however, committed 6 double faults in the match to 2 by the French. Gasquet won 3 break points in the match to none by the Spaniard. Second seed David Goffin, 29, Belgium, beat World No 54 Alexander Bublik, 22, Kazakhstan, 6-3, 7-6 to enter the QFs of the event. Goffin won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Bublik. He won 5 games in a row to 2 by Bublik.

Seventh seed Filip Krajinovic, 27, Serbia, beat World No 76 Mikael Ymer, 21, Sweden, 6-1, 6-1 to enter the QFs. World No 44 Krajinovic won 6 break points in the match to 1 by Ymer.He also won 5 games in a row. Krajinovic will face Gregoire Barrere, 25, France,, in QFs.
