Gopalganj:  Gopalganj police on Friday submitted chargesheet in a local court in Khajurbanni liquor tragedy that had rocked the district in August this year. The investigation officer (IO) of the case submitted the chargesheet. Special Public Prosecutor of the Excise Department Ravi Bhushan Srivastava said that court procedures against the accused would start now.

Fourteen persons including the main accused Nagina Pasi are in jail while another prime accused Rupesh Shukla alias Pandit is still evading arrest in the case. The court has also rejected the bail petitions of the accused including some women. Two separate FIRs were  lodged with the Town police station in connection with the Khajurbanni liquor tragedy. Sadar Inspector Nigam Kumar Verma and SDPO Manoj Kumar were the IOs of the cases.

It may be mentioned here that over 20 persons had died while several others were taken ill after they consumed liquor in Khajubanni localityin Gopalganj district on August 15-16 this year. The cops had conducted raid at the village and recovered huge quantity of liquor from there.
