Patna: Munger police team raided the house of one Ravi Sharma close to the Munger Bari Durga Maharani temple under Kotwali police station on December 18 and seized huge quantity of liquor. Police arrested Aasha Devi, mother of Sharma, and forwarded her to judicial custody, said Kotwali police station, Munger, SHO Siyaram Choudhary.
Police said that police received inputs that illegal liquor trade was going on from the palatial house of Sharma close to the Temple. Acting on the directive of Munger SP Aashis Bharti, a police team raided the house of Sharma. The cops were stunned to find a pistol besides 37 live cartridges hidden under the platform of the sanctum sanctorum. When the cops searched other rooms of the house, they were stunned to see underground construction where huge quantity of IMFL liquor brought over from Jharkhand and Chattisgarh was kept.
Munger SP said that Sharma was running this trade using his personal temple to cover it. He said that the arm seized was countrymade one. Kotwali ps SHO Siyaram Choudhary said that police team also seized two four-wheelers parked outside Sharma’s house and seized 15 cartons of liquor from the vehicles.
