Sasaram : Police, on a tip off, during a vehicle checking drive on Kochas-Buxar main road under Dinara police station in Rohtas district on December 25, 2019, and seized 988 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a car though the liquor smugglers escaped from the scene.
A named FIR has been lodged with Dinara police station against Rajesh Kumar alias ATM, son of Gajendra Singh, and Amrit Kumar alias Mantu Kumar of Sorathi village under Dinara police station under Prohibition & Ecise Act and police are conducting raids at different places to arrest them. Rajesh Kumar alias ATM had been jailed twice in connection with smuggling of liquor earlier.
SHO, Dinara police station, Siyaram Singh, said that he got information that a big consignment of IMFL was being smuggled from Uttar Pradesh to Sorathi village under the police station after which he along with police force started vehicle checking near village Bhagrathi on Kochas-Buxar main road. When police intercepted a car, the liquor smugglers tried to escape with the car. Police chased and caught the car but the liquor smugglers jumped of the car and escaped. When the car was searched, police seized 988 bottles of IMFL.
The SHO said that the liquor smugglers have their syndicate from Uttar Pradesh to Rohtas and Jharkhand. They watch the movement of police and whenever any police van passes through the area, the liquor smugglers inform their boss.
